Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin made a seamless return to the light heavyweight division, stopping a game but outgunned Matt Hamill with a steady striking attack in the UFC 88 co-main event tonight at Philips Arena.It was Franklin's first fight at 205 pounds since his first round TKO of Ken Shamrock in April of 2005.

But the game Brazilian hung on, survived, and became one half of one of the most entertaining 155-pound battles of the year, with Pellegrino impressively pounding out a three round unanimous decision in UFC 88 preliminary action at Philips Arena.

Rashad Evans proved me wrong:  I have long been a doubter of Evans.  I thought he looked really bad in his last two fights.  It doesn't matter though, he just got a career-making KO over Chuck, knocking him out in absolutely brutal fashion.  I don't think he'll get a title shot, but I suspect he may have to deal with Lyoto Machida next. There is no clear contender at 205:  Everything is up for grabs right now at 205.  This outcome is a major boost for Machida, and a major money loser for the UFC.  A couple of weeks ago the plan was for Griffin to rematch…

In a suprise finish Rashad Evans knocked out Chuck Liddell at 1:51 of the second round to move one step close to a title shot against Forrest Griffin, Dan Henderson defeated Rousimar Palhares, Rich Franklin defeated Matt Hamill and more at UFC 88.

It was announced today that WEC: Faber vs. Brown which would have taken place as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel Casino in Florida has been postponed because of Hurricane Ike.

Karo Parisyan has dropped out of his bout with Yoshiyuki Yoshida which would have taken place tomorrow in Atlanta. It appears a last minute back injury has forced the judo practitioner off the card and with the late notice a late replacement appears unlikely.

I would rather be fighting Fedor in November. According to a story on USA Today’s website in an article by Sergio Non, those are the word’s of Randy Couture in a conference call to promote Couture vs. Lesnar in November.

Ryan Jensen has replaced Jeremy Horn, and Alessio Sakara will face UFC newcomer Joe Vedepo at UFC Fight Night September 17, at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Nebraska.

This division is usually the most active in the UFC. However, with B.J. Penn planning to fight Georges St. Pierre it puts the title situation on hold for awhile. Geez, after the bitching and moaning this guy did after his loss to Amir Sadollah at last night’s The Ultimate Fighter Finale, it’s a bit of a surprise how easily he admitted to tapping post fight.
